In Honor of Fathers Day

Thank you for visiting my Blog. I will yield to God in my studies to share with you as God blesses. Feel free to post your thoughts in regards to anything that is said here.

My Blogging here has begun at a time in my life that certain topics are on the forefront of my mind and in the prayers of my heart. These topics will be revealed to some degree here as well as other matters that God may have me share. The first matter here is regarding a FACTNet thread that reveals a man named Mike Peters ( Michael H Peters) of Indianapolis , IN. He leads a group of people (in various locations) who believe they are following the New Testament pattern of living. I was a part of this group for a short time back in the early 90's. I have since known others who have been there for much longer and then left. We will continue to expose this fraudulent teaching with facts from God's Word as we explore their doctrine and behavior.

FACTNet posting:

OK..... Let's steer from the lesser realized facts (as I've mentioned above) and stick with the "facts" that are obvious and CLEAR to all.

In honor of Fathers Day....
I have been thinking about how this thread began. It began with a Christian brother who loves God and is sensitive to God's Word which says: 'Honor your father and your mother'. This man loves his brother who calls himself a Christian as well and is in Mike Peters group. He prays and longs for this brother to see the needs in the family that Jesus spoke of in the following Scripture:

Mark 7:9-13
He said to them, "All too well you reject the commandment of God, that you may keep your tradition. "For Moses said, ‘Honor your father and your mother’; and, ‘He who curses father or mother, let him be put to death.’ "But you say, ‘If a man says to his father or mother, "Whatever profit you might have received from me is Corban"—’ (that is, a gift to God), "then you no longer LET him do anything for his father or his mother, "making the word of God of no effect through your tradition which you have handed down. And many such things you do."

Can anyone deny that Jesus was speaking here of the natural birth family? If you can then I believe you may be denying Jesus Himself for it is written as well:

1Tim 5:8
"But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel."

Another word for "house" in the original meaning is:
KINDRED — blood kin or relatives.

The Pharisees where strict observers of the Mosaic laws (or so they thought they were).
Jesus condemned the Pharisees for encouraging the people to make such gifts (Corban) to the Temple (or as it is now the church) while neglecting their responsibility to care for their birth parents. According to Jesus, this was a CLEAR violation of a higher commandment, "Honor your father and your mother".

Could it be that in the Spirit of the "NT" law, Jesus is condemning this religious sect (originated by Mike Peters) of today (like the Pharisees of Jesus day) that has developed in the past 20 years who strictly observe the New Testament church patterns (or so they think they do)? They neglect (and even reject) for the sake of their "strict NT doctrine", which contains commandments of men, the saved and unsaved members of blood kin. This is becoming a "tradition" now that it has been 20 years. In this they blaspheme the name of our Savior by showing Him to be a hard and insensitive Person who lives by laws rather than Love. And calls us to legalism rather than the Life that sets us FREE in Christ to follow by Love. Do you (who claim to have it right in the NT) not realize that outsiders see you this way? Jen and I get email after email telling us things like this after they read your posts.

So Christ did say... Mt 10:37
"He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me."

What is our Savior like?... Ps 145:9
"The Lord is good to all, And His tender mercies are over all His works."

And He said.... Mt 12:48-50
But He answered and said to the one who told Him, "Who is My mother and who are My brothers?" And He stretched out His hand toward His disciples and said, "Here are My mother and My brothers! "For whoever does the will of My Father in heaven is My brother and sister and mother."

I understand that this is a "special family" spoken of here regarding the "household of faith" but do we ignore this Word from God?...Gal 6:9
"Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to ALL, especially to those who are of the household of faith."

This ALL doesn't leave out anyone and Jesus made it CLEAR not to leave out your relatives in Love.

Just like the Pharisees thought they were so in tune with God and "The" special ones obeying all that Moses commanded, so you say you are "The" special ones obeying all that Jesus commanded. Did you forget the commandment that still stands in the New Testament... 'Honor your father and your mother'?

From other testimonies placed in this thread it would seem CLEAR that the doctrine in Peters group is to practice no love towards outsiders even if they are blood kin who may be saved and in God's family themselves.

Is this care for "birth kin" in money only or is it not also in heart love and doing good to them?

My father has long since passed on. My mother has Parkinson’s and is getting worse in her condition all of the time. I love her! She is my mother. I saw her today and it was a good thing. God used her to bring me into this earth and to nurture me while growing up. According to God's Word and the testimony of my heart and conscience, she deserves some attention from me even if I don't think she is perfectly righteous with God. Even if she wasn't a Christian, my love and care for her could be used of God to win her to the Savior.

This is a very, very serious matter just as Jesus made it CLEAR!

In Christ Love for ALL,
Denny
